In this article, i will share my experience with the home remedies i researched. The most important thing to know is that no matter how awful it tastes, it will give us a pain free period.
DIET
It sounds funny, right? It may seem irrelevant but the cause of many menstrual cramps [apart from heredity. shocked? yeah, i was too but some cramps are actually generational] is the food we eat. Yes! The first step to achieving a long term cramp free menses is to watch what goes into our body. I'm not going to say you have to vegetables and salad for a full course meal, i'm just saying you have to stay away from certain foods.
Here's the trick, seven days before your assumed day, do not eat salty, oily or sugary foods by this i mean you have to keep away from soda, carbonated drinks (which are never good for us), fries , akara and others like it. I usually feel like taking candy some times during this period so i take sweet fruits like banana, pineapple, apples etc.If you have the same challenge take the fruit flavor of your favorite candy.
Make sure to take watery fruits like orange as they keep the flow steady.
WATER
As we all know it is the best way to keep hydrated. it's relevance now in menstrual cramps is that it enable proper circulation of blood which supply food to the contracting muscles of the uterine[womb] thereby relieving the pain.
Make water your coffee in the morning, your drink to wash down a meal, your soda in a train ride home and let it accompany every of your edible and you will get relief. Drinking may be difficult especially for those that it gives an itchy throat after lots of intake[just like myself],rather than taking it plain put slices of cucumber and lemon to give it a drink-like taste.
HEAT
To defrost an ice cube , we need heat and so does your uterine to break down those clumps of blood. there are two ways to obtain this heat : it can be interior or exterior.
Interior heat This is obtained by what we take into our body. This can be food or drink, i'm not saying you should have your meals with a lot of chili pepper, that would be ridiculous and peppers only burn the mouth, but we need something to burn your stomach at this point we should be thinking of ginger,garlic onions....yep! these are the things we need you can either grate them into your daily meals slightly more than usual or simply brew to tea instead of coffee. Chinese green tea will also do fro the same purpose. Just make sure it's hot and herbal. if you cannot have one flavor of tea interchange them daily ginger and bay leaf, ginger and onion and chamomile , ginseng and green tea ...... the combination list just goes on and on.
Alcohol is another good remedy for cramps because it generates heat. do not take beer but dry gin, red wine, or alcoholic bitters like achoo,alomo bitter etc before bed time each night
Exterior heat By this i mean,exercise ! e shock you? it shouldn't . Exercise is one of the best ways to warm up yourself because you sweat. i don't mean walking ,everyone does that go a little extreme by doing jumping jacks immediately you wake up , sit ups by your wardrobe could you extra mile in saving you from cramps the whole day.
With all these , i can now tell you that the best way to keep fit is by consuming a lot of vegetables. Don't go a day with having at least two oranges. if you follow accordingly your painkiller may actually expire in the bag.
